here’s a little something i refinished over the weekend. little treasures i found at my local thrift shop, they are vintage metal trays that were in a pretty-bad rusty state.
i painted them using the annie sloan chalk paint, using greek blue first then a top coat of old white. buff sanded them to smooth out, then stamped the seahorse image (using archival manganese blue) and watercolored using inktense pencils. {oops…i forgot to take a pic of that step, sorry!} i finished by waxing with two coats of annie sloan clear wax.
I punched two holes, added eyelets and strung cording through, finishing it off by tying a square knot.
i made coordinating magnets using flat-backed glass baubles, stamping with stazon ink and using silver leaf.
i’m pretty happy with how they turned out :) i can see one of these being hung by a front door to hold those last minute to-do lists to remind you before you head out the door.
i hope to sell all three of them at an upcoming craft show, but we shall see….
please let me know if you have any questions or if you’ve made something similar, i’d love to hear from you!
{p.s. i saved one in its “natural” state for a special friend of mine, LOL…..well JM you know it’s for you}
I love this project JJ and the new website looks awesome! Hmmm, I wonder who JM is?
thanks so much JM (lol) and at least {hopefully} they’ll get some love as memo boards…instead of just getting bumped around an old dusty thrift shop ;)
