Well, i’ve been keeping very busy lately, making christmas ornaments to sell at an upcoming craft show later this week. keeping with my “under the sea” theme, i chose seahorses, fish (& little beach signs), starting with plain inexpensive wood ornaments from the craft store.
of course I painted them with annie sloan chalk paint in old white and duck egg! ;) then i stamped on them using two of my favorite (& most used!) background stamps by impression obsession — shells and wood plank using versamark ink and embossing powder (ranger sea foam white & judi~kins egyptian gold). then i covered them totally using versamark ink and UTEE — i liked the “bubbly” texture — so stuck with just one coat.
i drilled hanger holes using my dremel, and then struggled for ages to find a hanging cord/ribbon i was happy with…(sometimes the finishing touches are the most time consuming, right?)
in the end, i went with coordinating silver and gold ribbons (that don’t fray easily).
i also found these plain wooden trees at my local discount craft store to use as a display for my own ornaments.
the trees light up with regular twinkling christmas lights…i thought they were just adorable! i found pegs that almost fit the pre-drilled light holes, so i painted everything, mixing various shades of annie sloan chalk paint to achieve the look i wanted –then carefully drilled several holes slightly larger to accommodate the pegs.
of course, what sea themed christmas would be complete without a glittered starfish tree topper?!?
i’m really excited to get everything set up at the show on wednesday…but for now I’m off to go put the finishing touches on a few other things I’ve made for the show…
thanks so much for taking the time to drop by my lil blog!! hope you have a great week :D
oh…and here are some other ornaments i made — mini “message in a bottle” …(just for you MC, *wink*) enjoy!!!
