renninger’s extravaganza

recently i drove up to mount dora, florida to attend the flea market extravaganza event held at renninger’s. i was primarily looking for “staging” items to use when i start selling things at shows soon. i didn’t get to look around as much as i usually do, but found several very useful items quickly. it’s funny — as many times as i’ve been to renninger’s over the last 20+ years i never ever get bored. there are always new and interesting things to see, and unique characters to talk to! so, even though i was only there this time for a few hours, i found some treasures…

my favorite thing found on this trip was this vintage brass glove stand, i’ve been eyeing them on ebay and etsy for years. they are usually between $25-40, but at renninger’s i scored it for $8!!! can’t wait to use it at my first show to display some of my handmade watercolor cards :)

i was also very lucky recently to have been given a broken vintage crate at the craft show i did about a month ago. they were tired of looking at it and didn’t want to bother fixing it to use, so were thrilled i’d take it off their hands! i promised to replace it with a brand new one of the same size from a craft store…so using my 60% off coupon, it cost me a whopping $5.20 — not a bad trade, huh? Let’s just say I was thrilled to pieces!!!

It was an easy repair also — the tongue/groove boards had split on the side, so I removed the piece that was still attached, used wood glue to reattach the two broken pieces and then put everything back together, using small dabs of wood glue just to reinforce the tongue/groove corners. just for fun, i looked it up online and saw a similar one (in slightly better condition) selling for upwards of $70. so needless to say — i really adore it!!! it also came in super handy this past weekend when i was selling my things at another craft show.  i stood it on end on the floor and put my wooden ornament trees on it to display my beach themed ornaments from last weeks blog…(btw, they sold like hot cakes and i had to make a few more for special requests the last day of the show) :D

it sure has been a fun filled couple of months doing these craft shows and incorporating my vintage treasures as staging items….who knows…maybe someday i’ll be the one selling things at renninger’s, that would be spectacular!

thanks so much for stopping by today…

hope you all have a blessed thanksgiving — spending time with family and friends :)
